Frozen Dead Guy Days 2012…Day 3

The Polar Plunge

I knew this day was coming. After watching and photographing the Polar Plunge last year I mentioned to my son that it might be cool to actually participate. Somehow that planted a seed and today I found myself standing in the Polar Plunge line wearing shorts on a windy 25 degree day with Hunter by my side.

I am not a Polar Plunger. I love water but I like it hot and preferably with jets. This water was neither warm, nor bubbly.

 It was just cold…Damn Cold

Normally there’s a warming tent to put your clothes on or take them off but thanks to the previous days wind, there was no tent. As much as that sucked in the end it didn’t matter.

The eager folks standing in line were there to get wet and tent or no tent it was gonna happen.

This was the first person to take the plunge.

So here’s Hunter and I.

The plan was to wear our Rockies jerseys, walk up to the hole cut in the ice, dip our toes in the water, assume a Tebow position and then fall backwards into the frigid water.

We executed perfectly except I forgot to dip my toe in the water.

Soon as I hit the water my mind went totally blank for a few seconds.

My first thought was…”F..ck this water is cold”.

My second thought was…”I need to get to the edge now”.

I was extremely proud of Hunter. He was right there with me and showed absolutely no fear…That kinda scares me.

Yeah!!

At this point I realized I didn’t have my hat. As cold as I was I’d have jumped back in for that hat.

Lucky for me I could see it floating behind the paramedic.

Here’s the video of Hunter and I doing the plunge.

These were the Star Wars plungers.

Here the battle on video.

If you’ve never done the Frozen Dead Guy Days  Polar Plunge it needs to be on your bucket list. I’ve checked that one off and don’t think I’ll ever need to do it again. I’ll stick to taking pictures of other brave participants

Next up for us was the Coffin Races.

We had a spot by the finish line so my pictures are of the racers as they crossed the finish line.

So who was the winner??

The Pink Socks had the best time and won the Coffin Race for the third year in a row. This team is tight and they’re really something to watch in action.

I’m “D” The Ranter and I did it :)

That’s it for Frozen Dead Guys 2012…See you next year…If you dare.

With Poppers and Wind…Frozen Dead Guy Days Begins

3-2-12

Frozen Dead Guy Days Opening Ceremonies

This isn’t a huge event but it is the official start of Frozen Dead Guy Days. This took place at 7pm at the round about in Nederland. The Mayor of Nederland and Amanda Macdonald(the new local owner of FDGD) were present to kick off the festivities for this year.

Not a huge crowd, but the wind was kick’n and it was below zero with the windchill.

The popping of the poppers.

A cold weather dance from the world-famous Skeleton Dancers.

That was it. We haul’d ass back to the truck.

Frozen Dead Guy Days is roll’n.

Time to get your freak on, just keep that freak warm.

Unfortunately the wind has messed up some of the festivities for Saturday.

The Polar Plunge and Coffin Races have been moved to the same time on Sunday due to the crappy weather.

Sunday is supposed to be much nicer.

I’m “D” The Ranter and now I have another day to think about the Polar Plunge.

Good Times :)

Grandpa’s Still in the Shed…Get your Ass up to Ned

ATTENTION…THE FROZEN DEAD GUY POLAR PLUNGE AND COFFIN RACE HAS BEEN CHANGED FROM SATURDAY TO SUNDAY DUE TO HIGH WINDS AND EXTREME WINDCHILL TEMPERATURES

ALL SATURDAY INDOOR ACTIVITIES WILL STILL BE AT THE SAME TIME.

GRANDPA BREDO IS OK WITH THIS.

It’s that time of year again. The time where my tiny town of Nederland turns into a mountain freak show of epic proportions.

All for a guy who isn’t even around to appreciate the big fuss over him.

This year instead of only photographing I plan on participating in the festivities.

Hunter and I will be testing our manhood(or shrinking it) as we plan to see what it’s like to be a human popsicle in the Polar Plunge.

I’ll be wear’n my Ranter jersey of course.

Of all the Frozen Dead Guy Day activities I love to photograph the Polar Plunge the most. It’s the facial expressions of the brave (mildly crazy/intoxicated), folks as they enter the frigid water that I dig.  In my photographic absence Mike the Rox Addict will be getting all of our “Nippy Dip” on film…Thanks Mike.

Blow Me Down…Superwind Hits our Little Town

11/13/11

Alternate titles for this blog entry were “Got Wood” and “Sure you’ve been blown at home, but ever had your home blown?”

The were three things I noticed when Saturday nights Superwind  finally subsided and I hesitantly opened the curtains to survey the damage. The first thing I noticed was the power was still out. The second thing I noticed was the grill dumped over on its side. The third thing I noticed was my neighbor’s house.

That shocked me because it used to be not visible from our porch.

Their house is normally blocked by a row of trees that used to be our wind block.

The news stated that there were microbursts that exceeded 100 mph. Microbursts my ass. Krista and I were in the cabin pretty much awake all night long and the wind never let up. Throughout the night we heard several loud cracks and felt the ground thud so many times I stopped counting.

We were awake when the tree next to the house was uprooted and fell onto the house. It hit right where we sleep and we could hear the branches banging on the roof all night long. That was unsettling to say the least.

This bad ass wind storm wasn’t micro anything.

Here’s another shot of that tree leaning on the cabin.

The same tree from the back of the cabin.

Here it is after we removed top 2/3rd as it was dangerous just hanging there. The double tree in the picture below and the tree to the right of it both struck the cabin when they were uprooted.

To add insult to injury we recently switched satellite providers. Below is what’s left of our new dish. Notice the old-fashioned TV antenna in the background is untouched and standing proudly.

Sad to say I didn’t get to see the Broncos win at KC on Sunday. No worries I’ll be at Mile High on Thursday vs the Jets.

On the plus side I’d say I picked a great spot to put my shed. Trees down all around it and it escaped unscathed. Look at the size of the tree that uprooted behind it.

Another shot of the wind break trees that hit the house. Notice the previous satellite providers dish is unharmed…WTF??

Back of the house.

Not all the trees were uprooted. The tree that took out the satellite dish snapped at the base as did the biggest tree on the property.

This tree was huge and it sucks that it’s gone.

RIP buddy

We lost thirteen trees. None of us were hurt and the kids were actually away for the weekend.

I’m “D” The Ranter…Still living on the mountain top but I’m no King of the Mountain.  This little incident shows us in reality we’re all Mother Natures bitch…“D”

Orton Hears A Boo…Or Two

10/9/11

CHARGERS VS BRONCOS

The end of baseball season for me means Nuggets basketball (although this season is a bust), and Broncos Football. If you follow this blog you know it’s not limited to baseball. I’m a Colorado Blogger and with that said I need to be flexible, so I blog about all kinds of events from Judas Priest concerts to my little town of Nederland’s famous “Frozen Dead Guy Days”.

After almost ten years on the Broncos season ticket waiting list our number finally came up and Krista and I were offered the opportunity to purchase season tickets a few months ago. My wife is probably a bit more of a football fan than me(and a lot less of a baseball fan), but I’ve been a solid Broncos fan since 1989.

She supports me hanging out with the Rantics at Coors Field so I didn’t hesitate to get her the Broncos season tickets.

Happy Wife = Happy Life

The plus side is I get to go too :) Hunter and Mylee both were able to attend the two home pre-season games and they had a great time.

Our seats are on the fifth level and only thing in front of us is a railing. Cool thing, not too far from our seats  is the Broncos fan mascot known as the Broncnater.

Here’s the Broncnator in full effect on the Big Screen.

Here he is in person.

Gotta respect a guy who puts his trademark name on his Jersey :)

This particular game was my third Broncos game of the season and although it was the Broncos forth loss I felt this game was blog worthy. The game kicked off the with the announcement that the skydivers were jumping out of the plane.  Everyone stands there and looks up and waits for the skydivers to enter the stadium.

If you’ve never seen live before this it can get a bit tense at times as these dudes swoop over extremely close to the crowd. Once these guys manuver themselves inside the stadium they are haul’n a-ss.

Nobody took a boot to the head so I’d call this one a perfect landing.

Then there was the flyover…That never gets old…Jets will always be cool.

Ok, I was not on the Tebow bandwagon at the beginning of this game. I like Tebow but I figured he needed more time to learn the Broncos system and mature. But I’m not seeing anything I like from Mr. Orton thus far into the season.

Not long into the game the boo’s started because of Orton’s performance and not long after the Tebow chants started to echo the stadium.

I felt bad for Orton but not only did he put on a lackluster performance he just looked like he wasn’t into it. Body language says a lot. Kyle’s body language said..”Bench Me”

Coach Fox succumbed to the crowd pressure, pulled Orton, put in Tebow and the Broncos were back in the game. Something about Tebow, when he is on the field it feels electric. It’s like the Mile High Magic is back.

Say what you want, I was there and I felt it.

Here are some random game pictures.

This dude is gonna be great.

Gets the two point conversion.

Decker Flying

This catch was one Coach Fox reviewed. He clearly had possession.

Upon further review it was a reception.

 Champ Baily doing his thing.

Sends Mathews airborne.

Mathews lands and loses possession of the ball.

Broncos ball.

Rivers attempts a throw to Jackson.

 Jackson thinks he has it.

I think at this point Jackson knows he’s lost it.

The Broncos had a chance to win the game with one second left close to the goal but it wasn’t to be.

Broncos lose to the Chargers. The final score was 29-24. I’ve never exited Mile High with a loss and seen the crowd still buzzing with excitement. Is Orton done and the Tebow era begun?

By the way..Have you heard of Tebowing? You’ll love this :)

I’m the Ranter…I’m on the Tebow wagon, I like a quarterback with heart.

The Rockies are on Fire….Seriously

9/6/10                            Four Mile Canyon Fire…Day 1

I know I complain about the rain all the time but it has a purpose. Right now there is a huge wildfire burning about nine miles as the crow flies from our cabin and I’d give anything to see those precious rain drops right now.

I noticed the huge plume of smoke when I was at work yesterday. It was scary because it looked like it was really close to the cabin. We had to take the back way to get home yesterday as the main road was closed due to mass evacuations.

Here a picture and a video I shot on my way home from work.

Here’s the story from Jeffery Wolf of 9news.com

BOULDER – Several homes have been destroyed by a fast-moving fire in a canyon west of Boulder, but it is unclear how many. The fire is being driven by winds and had grown to 3,500 acres by Monday night and 1,000 homes were evacuated.

The fire began around 10 a.m. on Four Mile Canyon Road near Emerson Gulch, according to Boulder County Emergency Management. It is not clear how it started. It is being called the Four Mile Canyon Fire.

Laura McConnell with the Boulder County Incident Management Team said “multiple and/or dozens” of homes were lost to the fire. She said four of the structures lost belonged to firefighters who were battling the blaze. They were taken off the line when their homes were lost.

Many of the structures that were lost were in the Sunshine and Four Mile Canyon areas.

“It sounded like a raging river just getting louder and louder,” David Mann, a person who was recreating in the area and had to evacuate, said. “We just turned and ran and started yelling to get out of there.”

As he left the area, Tom Hammond, a resident, had to face the helpless truth.

“Whichever way the wind blows, it’s gonna blow toward the houses,” Hammond said.

“I started hearing the roar of the fire and it was like a tornado roar. So when you start hearing that, you know that you’ve got a serious wildfire,” Linda Tarr, an evacuee, said. “So devastating was to hear those houses burn. To hear the popping, maybe propane tanks? It was like gunfire. I don’t know what that was, but there were explosions also. But the wood burning – I’ve never heard a house fire, but now I have.”

Mann says it was very scary.

“Just: ‘Get the hell out of here. ‘Why am I here? My wife’s gonna kill me,'” Mann said.

Cmdr. Rick Brough with Boulder County Emergency Management says a fire truck was also consumed by the flames.

There are no reports of any injuries from the fire and fire crews would not even discuss containment or control on Monday night.

The fire is moving northeast toward Highway 36 and also growing to the west.

The number of homes evacuated soared to 1,000 by Monday night. The evacuations started in the Gold Hill area and then spread.

The general boundaries of the evacuation areas are the Peak to Peak Highway to the west, Left Hand Canyon to the north, Highway 36 to the east and Boulder Canyon to the south. The Sugarloaf area was being evacuated on Monday night.

No people are being allowed back into any of the areas that have been evacuated.

The Boulder County Office of Emergency Management says the emergency alert notification system was not working properly and residents in the area should not wait for alerts to evacuate.

Before the problems, About 2,500 messages were sent to residents in the area, telling them they have to evacuate or they should be prepared to leave.

The only remaining evacuation center that is open is at the Coors Event Center on the University of Colorado campus in Boulder. The North Boulder Recreation Center, the Nederland Community Center and New Vista High School are no longer open. There were less than a dozen evacuees at the Coors Event Center late Monday night. The Boulder County Fairgrounds is set up to accept large animals that were evacuated and the Longmont Humane Society is also taking in some animals. Longmont is asking for help with some food for dogs and cats.

Many of the evacuated residents were staying at the Holiday Inn Express at Broadway and Lee Hill Drive because they were allowed to take their pets there. The hotel waived its pet fees for the evacuees.

Boulder Valley School District’s mountain schools will be closed Tuesday due to the fires and road closures. That includes mountain schools in Jamestown, Gold Hill and Nederland elementary schools, as well as Nederland Middle/Senior High School. BVSD mountain school bus routes including those to the Boulder schools will not drive to or from the mountains on Tuesday. More information is on http://bvsd.org.

Authorities say it has been a struggle to transport water up to the area.

Because the fire has moved so fast, authorities say it was hard for firefighters to get ahead of the fire and create breaks. About 100 firefighters are in the field battling the fire and another 50 to 75 are on standby. They are working in rugged and steep terrain and are trying to protect structures. They are clearing out about 30 yards around any structures to try and keep the flames away from them.

Firefighters were staying overnight to fight the fire and keep it away from homes.

By Tuesday morning, it is hoped that seven tankers will be used to fight the fire. Crews were able to use three on Monday evening. They had to wait until after 5 p.m. to take off because of high winds in the area.

Power has been cut to some communities in the area while crews fight the fire. There is also a 10-mile flight restriction around the fire area because of the air tankers that need to get through.

Both directions of Highway 119 are closed from Boulder to Nederland due to the wildfire. Fourmile Canyon Road and Sunshine Canyon are also closed. Many roads in the area are shut down due to the fire.

A total of 35 different agencies have responded to the fire. The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office is also asking state and federal authorities for help.

The smoke from the fire is easily visible from Denver and people in Boulder say ash has fallen on their homes.

Earlier on Monday, winds were from the north-northwest at 15 to 35 mph with gusts to 45 mph, according to the 9NEWS Weather Team.

There were reports of two other smaller structure fires, one of them in Eldora, but those fires were contained.

For more information, the Boulder Office of Emergency Management is updating its website: http://boulderoem.com/.

Scary stuff. I have tickets to the Rockies game today. I really hope the wind stays calm. A repeat of yesterday violent winds could be really really bad.

I’m “D” The Rockpile Ranter and let me tell you….The Rockies are already hot, we don’t need a fire to prove the point.

Freak is the Craze at Frozen Dead Guy Days

3/8/10

Frozen Dead Guy Days is an annual celebration held in my town of Nederland Colorado.

Ice queen.jpgHere’s how the story goes:

Grandpa.JPG.

<—Grandpa Bredo

Died of a heart attack cross-country skiing alone. Psychics have contacted Bredo to make sure he’s not upset over all the fuss. Bredo’s not upset, in fact  he’s amused by it all.

Grandpa did have a message for us all. His message was…

            “Never ski alone”

In 1989, a Norwegian citizen named Trygve Bauge brought the corpse of his recently deceased grandfather, Bredo Morstøl, back to the United States.

Trygve kept grandpa preserved in dry ice for the trip, and stored him in liquid nitrogen at the Trans Time Cryonics Facility from 1990 to 1993. In 1993 Bredo was returned to dry ice and transported to the town of Nederland where Trygve and his mother Aud planned to create a cryonics facility of their own.

Eventually Trygve was deported from the United States for overstaying his visa. Trygve’s mother Aud continued keeping her father’s body cryogenically frozen in a shack behind her unfinished house.

Here’s a picture of the unfinished house. It’s completely made of cement as it was supposed to be buried at some point making it fire proof, bomb proof and earthquake proof although the structure doesn’t suggest that with all the windows and doors.

You can see the Tuff Shed in the background.
Trygve's house above Nederland.JPG                          Trygve was an interesting fellow, who really knows?

Aud was eventually evicted from the home for because it had no electricity or plumbing.

“Here’s a shot of the flyers on the inside of the sliding glass door. When you take the tour you are allowed to go inside the house.”

Pictures inside Tyrgves house.jpgAud was about ready to head back to Norway and she was worried that her dad would thaw out so she contacted a reporter from “The Mountain Ear” newspaper who passed on this crazy story to the local constabulary and an investigation was undertaken by the Marshall’s office.

A town meeting was held and Aud was in appearance.

Nederland’s town council,(being as cool as it is) passed Section 7-34 of the Municipal code regarding the “Keeping of Bodies”. Which basically states it’s illegal store a frozen dead body on your property. However Grandpa Bredo was “Grandfathered” in .

Below is The Ice Man, driving the truck with Uncle Nasty (DJ from 106.7 KBPI in Denver) in the back. The Ice Man’s truck is a frequent sight in Nederland.Uncle Nasty.jpg

The Ice Man has been delivering dry Ice to pack around Grandpa Bredo’s sarcophagus since 1995. Every month The Ice Man and a few volunteers deliver 1600 pounds of dry ice to keep Grandpa at negative 120-160 degrees Fahrenheit.

They were showing the Movie “Grandpa’s in the Tuff Shed” all day. There was a frozen t-shirt contest in which the winner was the first one to put on a balled up frozen t-shirt. There was Ice Turkey bowling, tours to see the Frozen Dead Guy, Grandpa’s Mall Crawl, Frozen Salmon Toss and a…

Sorry, had no interest in viewing that contest.

Below is a music video I made from all of my video footage. Please check it out.

Next year we plan to enter the Coffin Races because the Polar Plunge is totally out of the question.

Thanks for checking out my little town and the world famous Frozen Dead Guy Days.

Some like the city I think it’s shitee

4/16/09

So much for our yard sale. The weather prediction is snow for the next four days. That’s freggin wonderful. This was the perfect weekend to have this yard sale as the Rockies are out of town and we had nothing else going on.

Now I’ll have to do have this sale the weekend the Rockies are in town. I’ll find a way to do this and not miss the games.

The reason for the big sale, the wife and I are done with the Denver Metro area. I hate cities, I hate traffic, and I hate having more sheet than I know what to do with.

I’m at the point in my life where I’m deciding which stuff is actually important to me. I think it’s funny how you spend you whole life accumulating crap so when you die someone else can pick through it and keep what they like and sell the rest.

That’s not going to happen with us, we are going through our belongings and deciding what to keep and what to toss, sell or give away.

Why do people buy new stuff anyway? What’s the difference in functionality with a new dresser vs an older used one? There is none. You buy the “new dresser” to go with the “new house” and your new curtains. I mean what would people say if they walked into your new house and saw old furniture right? F’ck that way of thinking.

That’s what I’m escaping, I just can’t take it anymore. I’m f’kin done. Simple is just better. I don’t need new stuff, I just need stuff that works and serves it’s purpose. It’s not a popularity contest to me.

Most of my life I’ve been a quiet man. I’m extremely shy and you have no idea how hard it is for me to put on my Ranter hat and Jersey and walk around Coors Field like I own that F’kin place. I do it because it is my balance in life.

The Rockpile Ranter is 100% me,  but it’s me with all the self-confidence in the world.

I try to be a good dad. I want my kids to grow up and say, my dad was hard, but he was cool and fair and he loved us. My kids are lucky, they get to do things that most kids dream of. They have a dad who at times is bigger than life and one who includes them in most of his adventures.

Tell your kids you love them every day even when they f’ck up. They need that re-assurance daily.

Hunter took his pictures of his backstage tour of the Pepsi Center and of meeting Melo to school the other day. The kids said that the dude in the picture wasn’t Melo and that he was lying.. All my little guy wanted to do was share the excitement of his special day and other kids had to F’ck that up for him.

Kids can be cruel to other kids. F’ck this city of Broomfield. f’ck his school.  My wife and I are home schooling and  going to teach our kids what the schools don’t. How to survive in a F-ked up world and be a good human being.

I’m tired of mean people, I’m tired of phony people who do things so people will think of them in a certain way. I’m tired of gossip, I’m tired of working to pay “The Man”. I tired of living in a pre-packaged f’kin world.

Instant gratification isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Waiting for something adds to the excitement and the enjoyment. Don’t believe me,… put something on layaway.

I hate the fact that I have a cell phone on me at all times.

Growing up in a little town can suck at times but the people are “Real”. When they talk to you they genuinely care and take interest in what you’re saying.mainstreet1.jpg

The Broncos, Nuggets and the Rockies are the only thing that made living in the Denver Metro area bearable for me. Catching the games from the mountains won’t be that hard because I’ll just head to the game from work on most days so I’m already close to Coors Field.

In six weeks I’ll be living in a little cabin in Nederland Colorado with my wife and two kids and three pugs. It’s 900 square feet, with a wood burning stove and I can’t wait. This yuppie, got to have the newest thing, mine is better than yours, is that a blackberry?, foo foo cappuccino, that’s not Melo community can officially kiss my pearly white ranting asss.

On a baseball note :) Rockies play the Dodgers tomorrow in LA. Jorge De La Rosa 0-1 is the starting pitcher. C’mon Jorge, I want to see you make Manny Ramirez look like chump.

Don’t worry about me, I’m just trying to stay sane in a crazy f’ked up world.

Peace to you my friends, Go Rockies…D

It’s all about right now, show me Rockies

cabin1.JPG

8/31/08

Well that sucks. I went up to the cabin this weekend to do some maintenance.

When I left out Saturday morning the Rockies were up one game on the Padres.

I didn’t have access to any of the scores so I was out of the loop for a day and a half.

Humming 8-31-08.JPG

I felt good though, because the Padres(53-83) are trailing  the Rockies(64-74) and I didn’t figure it would be an issue winning this set or even getting a sweep.

On the drive back home today I turned on the radio and caught the game three in the bottom of the ninth, tied.

Not only did we lose this one, I found out we lost the night before too..HUH ?

 <—–Woodpecker pecking.   Squirrel 8-31-08.JPG

No way, not to the Padres, not now. Remember the wins in SF?

I  must admit, after hearing that news I  went a little squirrely.

The place is no Keystone or Vail, but it’s close to Denver.

It has a little something for everyone, and it’s  more reasonably priced than the big resorts.

Ever paid for a family of four to snowboard? If you have you feel me.

C’mon Rockies.

24 games left in the Rockies regular season.

15 home games.

9 away games.

If you look in Elway’s left eye you can see a glimmer of hope.

We need sweeps in the series against the Dodgers and the two series against the D-Backs.

If you think about it, everything is about right now. Crap.JPG

<—Actual animal feces.(deer I think).

None of the stupid crap that happened earlier this season matters now.

Not the injuries, not the missed opportunities, not the road losses.

Winning is the only priority that matters from this moment forward.

I need to see the Rockies out there taking every second of these next home games seriously. All of it.

Thumbnail image for smiley-face.jpg

A really good start would be having batting practice tomorrow.dont_give_up.jpg

I need to see a team focused on one mission . Winning this Division and not EVER looking like a PUNK again in the World Series.

Please don’t mistake my excitement for anger, as baseball is my release.

I figure if I don’t give up, the Rockies shouldn’t either.

Every single game matters from here on. Every game of the Rockies, every one of the Dodgers, every one of the D-Backs.

In the evenings now, I constantly have MLB.com up and I’m checking scores.

I really believe the Rockies are still in this (I’ve seen stranger things happen, we all have).

smoke rings.jpg

<—(Not me or my pot).

Count on me blowing smoke in your face until I know it’s an impossibility for the Rockies to continue.

Lets see how much smoke is left after this homestretch with SF and Houston..

See you at the game tomorrow.

You wouldn’t believe the amazing view I have as I’m sitting here working on my blog.

I’m  on top of a mountain overlooking Nederland. Colorado.

I’m secretely borrowing some free wireless internet so I can take care of some business and post this blog entry.

   chipmunk 7-26.jpg

I’ve got a fold up carry chair, my computer in my lap, the sky is a clear jet blue and the wind is blowing tiny little ripples across the water.

There is a chipmunk on top of a log about five feet away and a hawk big enough to carry away one of my pugs is flying overhead checking out the scene.

Here’s what we did this weekend while the Rockies were out of town.

Lake view Best.JPG

We (me, Berned, Hunter and Mylee) spent all day yesterday fishing at at Rainbow lake.

We didn’t catch a single fish except for  Berned who managed to snag a Rainbow trout.

Got up early again this morning.

   Still no luck.

I would have taken a picture of Berned’s rainbow trout, but it was tiny and I didn’t want to embarrass him.

No worries, there really is no bad day fishing.

Just nice to get out and get some fresh air.

Mylee fishing 7-26.JPG

It was nice to get away from the heat of the city.

It was around 82 degrees up in the Mountains on Saturday and Sunday.

 Mid 90’s in Denver.

Go Rockies.jpgNow on to some baseball.

Rockies beat the Reds last night 5-1

Rockies have won the last eight of nine since the All Star break.

Thumbnail image for Jorgedlr.jpg

Jorge De La Rosa has managed to save his job with some solid pitching when we need it the most.

Congrats on your first road win of this season. Good timing.. Jorge is now 5-5.

Rockies are now only six games behind the D-Backs.

Aaron Cook1.jpg

Aaron Cook..Congrats on the birth of your son on Thursday.

Ubaldo.jpgToday Ubaldo Jimenez gets to face former Rockie Pitcher Josh Fogg today in Cincinnati.

Fogg, aka “The Dragon Slayer”, has a chance to put a halt to the Rockies sweep of the Reds.

COOL NOTE: Each Rockies starter in the last two games has had at least one hit.

Rockies have the most runs in the MLB for July so far with 135.

Rockies are tied for third in Home Runs with thirty five, and are tied for first place in stolen bases. Thank you Willy T.

I asked at the beginning of this road trip for the Rockies to bring some wins to back to Coors Field. So far this road trip they haven’t disappointed. Yep, I’m happy right now.

Lets see, a sweep today of the Reds then eastward to take care of the Pirates.. Fishing Morning 7-27.JPG
