I haven’t written anything in a couple of days and it feels like an eternity.
Let me tell you the weather is beautiful and I’m working on a good tan.
A friend of mine Betsy has been working on www.rockpilerant.com. Right now It’s just a cover page that links back to this blog, but I’m thrilled that it’s finally up and accessible.
I would like a permanant page within that website that contains all of the “Rockies Fan Profiles”, maybe a page with videos and a baseball collection page which will get updated weekly as new items are acquired.
Rockies spring training tickets officially went on sale this morning at 9:00 am.
I was one of the first 10 people in line and by far the youngest one.
Andy and I got tickets for the first three home games, 25th, 26th, and 28th.
The seats we snagged are incredible, cheap too considering I could set my beer on the top of the Rockies dugout.
I finally received my new “P” in the mail yesterday.
I’ve discovered something just as bad as losing your “P” or being overcharged for a “P”.
Receiving the incorrect “P”.
The “P” that was mailed to me after waiting patiently for three weeks was the wrong color. I received a black “P”. In addition, the black “P” was bigger and had a different shape than normal purple “P”.
Right now I’m just hoping to have it ready by spring training.
This will be my third stab at trying to get my “P” to finish off my “Rock_ile”.
Who knew trying to find the right “P” would wind up being such a pain?
(This is not the Mobile Blogging Unit —>)
So as it stands right now, you’ll be able to find the Mobile Blogging Unit parked outside of Hi Corbett Field on Feb 25th, 26, and 28th before and after the game (It will be parked there other days too, we just haven’t figured what away games we’ll be driving to see).
On the roadtrip back, March 3rd we will be parked in the Maryvale Parking lot before the Brewers/Rockies game at the Maryvale Baseball Park in Phoenix.
As I may have mentioned before This trip will be the ulitmate baseball lovers vacation. The goal is to spend ten days and not spend over $400.00. Barring any mechanic issues, it should be a piece of cake. We split all of the expenses.
We plan to grill out every day, watch an incredible amount of live baseball, snag a sheetload of baseballs, hopefully get lot of autographs, visit some other ballparks, talk lots of baseball to all the fans we meet, and best of all document as much of it as we can so you reading this can share in the spring training experience.
Whaddya think?? :)
Rockies fans know the name, It’s imbedded in their short history.
Eric Young’s son “Jr” is one of six dudes up for the fifth annual Dernell Stenson Sportsmanship Award.
EY Jr, has been spending his time learning center field, which is a change up for him as he almost always plays second base.
Eric has a .424 average, three homers (two of which are grand slams), and has been caught only once out of nineteen attempted steals.
This award is in the memory of the late Cincinnati Reds outfield prospect Dernell Stenson, who was murdered during a carjacking.
This award has been given out annually since 2004, and is given to the player who best exemplifies unselfishness, hard work and leadership.
EY Jr is a shoe-in, even thought he missed a week due to a sore hamstring.
Just for the hell of it try this out:
WARNING If you do this remember what you will see on the wall is just an illusion.
1. Relax and then really concentrate on the four little dots in the center of this picture. Serious, stare at them for a good 40 seconds.
2. Then, turn your head and stare at any smooth wall. You will start to see a circle of light developing.
3. Blink your eyes a few times and you will see a figure start to emerge.
Did it work for you??
If it did, let me know what you saw. It freaked me out.
Ok, one more and then I’m done.
If you can’t read this one then I can’t help you.
If you’re into big bugs and your cruising through Colorado Springs, stop in and see the World’s Largest Hercules Beetle.
This big bug was built in 1958 and is constructed of fiberglass and steel.
It’s 9 feet high, 17 feet long, and 6 feet wide.
This monster weighs 400 pounds.
I’m all for that, just don’t do it this February. That would be all jacked up.
You’ve heard of Pistol Pete, here’s pistol pipe?
I can think of a million things to say, but I’m going to let this picture speak for itself.
Thanks for checking out the Rant.

ROCKPILE RANT MOVES FROM 20TH TO THE NUMBER TEN SPOT
Too cool. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t shooting for number one (I’ve got time). It’s a personal challenge. I’m not asking you to switch from your blog to mine. I’m just throwing it out there that you tack me on as a daily pitstop.
You might learn something, you might not. What you will click away with (get it, instead of using walk away with, clever I know) is a feeling of, “that Ranter guy is allright. At least thats what I’m shooting for.
I’m team loyal, I may smack talk a little, but it’s all in fun and harmless…Red Sox suck.
So anyway, It’s pretty easy to add an RSS feed to your Favorites folder. If you need help I can tell you how. I’m cool like that.
I can tell you that the things I have planned for Spring training are going to be over the top as far as baseball blogging goes.
That way if something cool happens during practice or after a game, we can pop on and talk about it before I blog about it.
A week of fun in the sun. Hanging with friends, snagging baseballs, spending some time watching the Colorado Rockies or whomever else we feel like.
