Kiss My Ass…Why Can’t I Play on the Grass?
3-7-13
My first and last trip to Hohokam Stadium.
(Rox Addict and his famous Running Man pose out front).
This joint is the spring training/winter home of the Chicago Cubs. The main reason I won’t be back is because this is Hohukum’s last year housing the Cubs. The Cubs move into a brand new facility next year. This stadium is a lot like other stadiums in the Phoenix area only older and for some strange reason..More expensive?
The Cubs suck because they stick it to their fans during spring training as well as the regular season. The going price here is 20 bucks for a berm ticket…OUCH!
Here’s the other reason I won’t be back.
Mike and I did our usual thing and showed up early for BP. I was stoked because I found out BP would be taking place inside the stadium and this place has a beautiful berm. Well I was stoked until I went inside and actually tried to access the berm. I was told it was off-limits during batting practice. The Usher was kind enough to let me know that as soon as the players were done I could walk anywhere on the berm. Thanks buddy.
WTF?? So I asked the Usher why? He informed me that the cleaning crew were still cleaning the berm. I found this totally unacceptable and walked away pissed that I wasted my time and showed up early. I paid 25 bucks for a crappy grandstand seat and then to be denied access to the berm during BP.
That’s retarded.
So as I was standing along the first base line hoping for a foul ball I observed this.
Lined up like ballhawking soldiers are the employees who are supposed to be cleaning the berm. The spent the entire batting practice chasing home run balls. I was jealous and pissed at the same time. Getting paid to snag baseballs that’s my f’kn dream job.
In reality all I can do is let you know how jacked up I think that is.
So now you know.
Today, the plan was to meet up with my folks at the stadium and take in a game.
We did just that. Beautiful day too. Mom and Pops thanks for coming up
.
Cool looking old stadium.
A few game shots.
Fans scrambling for a home run ball.
A packed left field berm.
A packed right field berm.
Some aerial entertainment.
I didn’t kill it with pictures today. It was fun just hang’n with my folks and watching the game feeling lucky to be warm.
Final Score.
White Sox cream the cheap ass Cubbies 8-3.
You can tell rain is a coming.
No worries, next game is a WBC game and it’s indoors
I’m “D” the Ranter and I will ballhawk for cash.
Meet Bob the Knob
I vote this:
“Best Use of a TV Seat Ever”
The story I heard about this guy is he was walking by the stadium on his way home from work. It was seriously late (about 1am) as the game had been rain delayed. Bob as I’ll call him picked up a 5 buck ticket and found his way down to a TV seat.
Here’s what happened next:
I’m “D” the Ranter.
If this dude doesn’t make you laugh you better check your pulse.
What would you do at 1 am if you had those TV seats to make the world remember you?

See what I mean about “Pitch Your Team”
3/17/10 HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY
I’ve had a few people ask questions about the “Pitch Your Team” video contest. So I did a quick one to give you an example. I’m going to enter a video but I can’t win this contest.
FYI…As good as this video is… This is not my entry
Robert sent me a new batch of pictures from Hi-Corbett in Tucson. Here’s a shot of Tulo homering in the Rockies/Cubs game.
Time for the Canadian to get back to work.
Safe
Last night I helped out at the Nuggets game. I was hoping for a chance to sit under the basket and take pictures but unfortunately my pass wouldn’t quite get me that close. ![]()
So I took an empty isle seat in the 4th row. It had a nice view.
Random crowd shot.
K-Mart..who knows how long he’ll be out?
5′ 5″ former Denver Nugget Earl Boykins scored 5 points.
DID YOU KNOW…Boykins weighs 133 lbs and can benchpress 350 lbs.

New glove new hat, when do I get to bat?
8/8/09
First off thanks for all the birthday wishes.
For my birthday I received a Mizuno glove, hand made cards from my kids, a delicious dinner at Wild Mountain Smokehouse and Brewery in Nederland, and a much needed win in Game 1 against the Cubs at Coors Field.
I wasn’t at this game but this series against the Cubs is one of my least favorite because the Cub fans usually out-number the Rockies fans during this series.
For some reason, Cubs fans like to be extrememly arrogant inside Coors Field.
None of that mattered last night. All you could hear on TV were the Rockies fans. That’s how it’s supposed to be.
Of course I’ll be at today’s game early trying to out-snag a Cubs fan during batting practice.
If you listen closely during the game tonight you might even hear me trying to out cheer a Cubs fan
.
I’ll also be sporting a new Ranter’s hat along with my birthday glove.
Go Rockies…I’m feeling it, I’m seeing it, I can’t wait to be there doing it…D
