Phillies take game two, parking is free for game three

4/11/09

You never know what you're going to see when you're walking up to Coors Field. Today I saw the Great Clips race car.Great Clips car 4-11-09.jpg             Yesterday a Mariachi sarinated Krista and I  as we entered Coors Field.

Personally I'd like to see a donut company out there handing out free donuts but that's just me. I was about the 6th or 7th person through the gates today.

I was probably standing in the bleachers twenty minutes when Atkins hit a BP homer that sailed over my head by inches. It bounced up on the cement hit the bottom of the bleachers and stayed there. I reached down and scooped it up.

Yankee Stadium baseball 4-11-09.jpg

Upon closer inspection of this baseball I realized I had snagged a Yankee stadium commerative ball.

I've never snagged one of these before.

I really had a good time at BP today. Granted one baseball is not anything to brag about but I got lots of "Play". There was at least five times this BP where I was within inches of catching a BP homer.

I like the adreniline rush. Whether you get the ball or not, the adreneline still kicks in.

I saw Dan catch a few BP homers today. Usualy at some point during BP Dan gives Emily a baseball he snagged and she searches the Pavilion looking to give it to another kid that didn't get one.

Today I got a picture of it. This was the best picture I took all day. Emily giving away a baseball 4-11-09.jpgI posted this picture because I think that every MLB player who doesn't toss baseballs to fans should be forced to hang this picture in their locker. Stop acting like you had to purchase those baseballs out of your own paycheck.

Jamie Moyer 4-11-09.jpg

Jamie Moyer has been around forever. I mean just look at him.

This dude was in the outfield catching flyballs for thirty minutes and couldn't even toss one back to the Phillies fans in the crowd.

I swear he must have caught twenty of them and wouldn't share.

Jamie you F-king old sourpuss. Take another look at the picture above.

            Feel good now??

Batting practice finished and I hung out with Robert for a while.

Then as I headed back to my seat I ran into a buddy I used to work with.

He and his girlfirend Angela are the folks who sold me my VW Bus.

Meet Kevin from Telluride.  Kevin 1 4-11-09.jpg

There are very few Phillies/Colorado games in Denver that you won't find Kevin at supporting the Phillies. Good to see you buddy.

The free parking for Sunday's game three mentioned in the title of this entry means if you can find a spot to park downtown it's free. First come first served on those spots.

A shot of the Rockies dugout. The word "focused" comes to mind.

Rockies Dugout 4-11-09.jpgThis game wasn't nearly as much fun as the Home Opener. That could be because we lost.

No worries, game three is Sunday and I have a feeling if we don't get rained out we'll win this one.

Props to Tulo, he's on a mission to make up for lost time last year. Barmes and Atkins homered in this game also. Barmes first of the year and Atkins second. Tulo warm up1.jpg                              Seth Smith was the Rockies left fielder today.  Seth Smith 4-11-09.jpg                                        Spilborghs played center field today. Spilly Center field 4-11-09.jpg                               Torealba was the catcher instead of Chris Iannetta. Torealba 4-11-09.jpg                        Recently acquired Jason Hammel was on the mound.

It was all Phillies today. Phillies get the win over the Rockies today in front of  35,251 people.

                                                        Hagg'n Stats

Showing up for the game = 1 point.

One BP baseball snagged after it hit my glove = 3 points

Total for todays game = 4 points.

Overall total so far = 11 points.

I didn't make it to the end of the game because I layered but I didn't bring a jacket. By the 8th inning it was quite nipply and I was done for the evening.

I'll be at Sunday's game with my parents but no BP or autographs. The weather is nasty and my folks don't want to watch me chase baseballs for two hours in the cold.

Remember to send me your Hagg'n stats so I can post them on Monday.

Mariachi Band...coolest thing ever. I am glad that you at least had a great day at Opening Day. Hey it is only Game 5, we got a lot more to go. Really all I wanted to say was awesome... MARIACHI BAND!! So, get lots of pictures this season (especially Tulo!). GO ROCKIES!! and good luck with Hagg'n!

Hey Don, I'm stealing that pic of Emily for my Facebook if you don't mind? Dan

D, congrats on the Yankee Stadium baseball. I have yet to snag one myself, only attending one Yankees game last season, but hopefully on my two trips there this year, I'll come out with at least one if they have any left over from last season.

BBChick-Thanks, I'll keep you happy with Tulo pics.
DAN-Anytime brotha, that's one of those pictures that says a lot.
DONNIE-Thanks brotha, the YS ball blew me away. Good luck...D

Hey D,
Dude, you should get extra Hagg'n points for that YS ball. That's a sweet piece to score.
Hope the weather is treating you decently at the game today.

LOVE that pic of Emily. Dan, you can certainly be proud of your girl. She gets it. :0)

R-Luv-I thought the same thing :). Maybe that's something to consider next season. I'll post the scores tomorrow.
LUVMYROX-She does get it...D

Damn man, good pictures. Coors sounds like a blast; hope to get out there to a game eventually. Yeah, some players don't acknowledge the fans at all, under any circumstances. It bothers me, there's no way something so minor can interfere with their concentration.

Side note, the Marlins and Krispy Kreme used to have a promotion, not sure if they still do, where if they got a dozen hits, each ticket-holder would get a dozen donuts. It was insane.
