Grandpa’s Still in the Shed…Get your Ass up to Ned

ATTENTION…THE FROZEN DEAD GUY POLAR PLUNGE AND COFFIN RACE HAS BEEN CHANGED FROM SATURDAY TO SUNDAY DUE TO HIGH WINDS AND EXTREME WINDCHILL TEMPERATURES

ALL SATURDAY INDOOR ACTIVITIES WILL STILL BE AT THE SAME TIME.

GRANDPA BREDO IS OK WITH THIS.

It’s that time of year again. The time where my tiny town of Nederland turns into a mountain freak show of epic proportions.

All for a guy who isn’t even around to appreciate the big fuss over him.

This year instead of only photographing I plan on participating in the festivities.

Hunter and I will be testing our manhood(or shrinking it) as we plan to see what it’s like to be a human popsicle in the Polar Plunge.

I’ll be wear’n my Ranter jersey of course.

Of all the Frozen Dead Guy Day activities I love to photograph the Polar Plunge the most. It’s the facial expressions of the brave (mildly crazy/intoxicated), folks as they enter the frigid water that I dig.  In my photographic absence Mike the Rox Addict will be getting all of our “Nippy Dip” on film…Thanks Mike.

Sometimes Nederland has a little too much crazy to absorb. Every year when Frozen Dead Guy Days roll around, the papers seem to go nuts about it. To be honest I’m not sure if its because they don’t have anything else to cover, or because people like reading about other people freezing themselves and doing all sorts of crazy things. Regardless, (a tip to folks who may have wanted to go skiing in Ned) unless you want to participate in the activities, trying to go to or through Nederland during Frozend Dead Guy Days, is a recipe to likely wait for the roads to clear for a while.
Anyways, have a good time, RANTER

EMMA-I avoid the Rocky Mountain Oysters too, not my thing 🙂
ROCKINGROXFAN-Welcome to the Rant brotha. I checked out your Rockies blog and I like it. However I don’t agree with your statement “Sometimes Nederland has a little too much crazy to absorb” I think Nederland has just the right amount of crazy. If you plan to ski or board Eldora on FDGDays weekend, you’re crazy. Avoid Canyon Blvd and take the back way if you want to get to Eldora…”D”
