Isn’t it past time for America’s pastime?

2/10/10

As I kill time waiting for spring training to begin I’ve been playing around with Windows Movie Maker. Here are a few more videos I’ve made from pictures I took during the 2009 season. The first one is the second video I’ve done recently and it should have a picture of most everyone I see at Coors Field. The second one has some duplicate pictures.

Hot Stove.com sent me another Rockies question today. The question was:
The Rockies signed closer Huston Street to a huge (3yr/$22.5 million) extension recently. Following a career year in 2009, should the club have instead stuck with a one-year deal, or do you like the long-term contract?

I’m sick of winter, football is finished and spring training hasn’t quite started. I stare at my pictures from last season and I long for good times and sunshine. There is some solace knowing I’m not alone but just a little.

Tell me, what do you do to stay busy during the off-season?

Ya, it is never a good idea in my opinion to sign closers to long-term contracts. If I were a GM, I would make that a general rule, unless I had Mariano Rivera or something? But how often does a player like that come along? Not often. The Blue Jays will still be paying for the ‘non-service’ of B.J. Ryan this season. 10 ‘freakin’ million! That is an example of how signing a closer long-term can blow-up in your face!

Hey D, I did see myself in the video! Thanks for including me in your year. I was right next to you when you took that monsoon downpour picture on July 3rd! Memories! The second video was blocked, something about WMG copyright grounds. I’m still unemployed but have been working the Avalanche games. After tonight they’re off for 3 weeks while some play in the Olympics. I’ll be painting my bedroom, the entire interior of my house will then be re-painted! Can’t wait for April! See you then! -Geri

Hey D,
I also get quite antsy around this time. Things are starting up, and I just want the games to get here SO badly!!

Hey D,
SPRING TRAINING!

HOMER-There has to be a fine line, but I’m not exactly sure what that is. Long term contracts can cripple a team as you well know. Oh well I’m hoping for the best in this situation.
QUEENGERI-You’re welcome, and congrats on the new position.
ELIZABETH-I wish I had a cure, just know you’re not alone.
R-LUV-Here we go again :)…D
