It figures. I walk around all game with my camera and just when I put it up, guess who walks by me?
Cal Flippin Ripken. I had to do a double take and when I figured out it was him, my photo opportunity was gone.
Mylee, Hunter and I were first in line at the Gate.
When they opened the gates, Mylee and Hunter both ran down to the field.
Ubaldo Jimenez was over by the fence playing catch.
Mylee asked nicely, and he tossed her a ball.
Thank you Ubaldo !
While I was assuming my usual position. I looked over and saw that Dan (pictured here in the Red hat), had let Mylee and Hunter borrow tickets for the first row during BP
Hunter and I have been in the first row before, but this was Mylee’s first time.
Anyone that has seen Hunter in action can’t deny his enthusiasm and persistance.
He worked that first row for baseballs.
He is not shy about asking a player for a ball…
Several times if need be..
Me, I came up with nothing today because in order to be a baseball snagger, baseballs have to be hit in your general direction or at least over the fence.
There was very little of that today…It figures.
Hunters total today
Mylee’s total today:
That was so cool watching them both in the first row.
This was the smallest BP crowd I have seen all year.
After batting practice was finished, we headed over to the Rockies dugout to see who might show up.
For the second day in a row, Chris Iannetta came out early to warm up.
You can see him signing Hunter’s baseball.
Mylee got his autograph too. He stopped right before me.
I shot some video of the Rockies warming up.
Welcome Dexter Fowler.
He made his Major League debut in the bottom of the tenth inning.
He hit a pop fly out.
He signed baseballs for Mylee and Hunter.
Thank you Dexter !
After a while, Joe Koshansky came out and started signing.
I have been trying to get his autograph for a while and he signed for all three of us.
It’s nice when the ballpark isn’t totally jammed with people.
Here’s what we got:
Me-Clint Hurdle and Joe Koshansky.
Mylee- Joe Koshansky and Dexter Fowler on one ball. Chris Iannetta.
Hunter-Joe Koshansky and Dexter Fowler on one ball. Chris Iannetta.
Ian Stewart One of my favorite players under 5’10″, Omar Quintinilla Spilly was also out signing autographs. He even went back through the line after the Anthem was played and signed for some people who he had missed the first time through.
Spilborghs had the game winning hit tonight to score Omar in a game that went 12 innings.
Most Annoying Fan
It seemed like every time I tried to lean out and take a picture this face kept appearing in my camera.
I can’t for the life of me figure out what she was looking for.
All the action was the other direction.
Anyways, I have like fifteen pictures with her mug in it.
Glad I dont use film.
Rockies take game two over the Giants 6-5. Five back from the D-Backs. Thats the closest we have been since April.
I just want to go out and talk smack to every Rockies hater I know and say “see, I freggin told you, don’t give up on this team, they can do it, just watch”.
But I won’t. I don’t want to jinx anything. So I stay reserved, waiting/hoping for “my time” to unleash…Go Rockies..I’m liking what I’m seeing…except I wont be able to see it tomorrow. For some reason the game isn’t televised…D
I was just curious who this fella was?
Helton jersey, floppy hat, seems like its been done.??
I knew today would be a good day for baseball. I woke up in a good mood. The weather was perfect. Parking downtown was free today because of the Holiday and we even managed to snag a good parking spot.
We were the first two in line at the Rock Pile Gate. We were just killing time when Alice walked up and gave us two free coupons for todays Value game.
We had Rock Pile tickets and this enabled us to upgrade to Pavilion tickets.
Hunter took his usual position as far into center field as he could get.
The guy pictured on the left may be an “actual Colorado cowboy”..
I’m just not sure.
If you noticed in the video there were no Rockies players warming up.
We figured with the big basket of balls on the field and the batting cages setup, there would have to be a batting practice at some point.
About fifteen minutes after we got inside the Giants began hitting. Hunter came close to a couple of balls that were tossed up by players. I had two home run hits sail over my head and land in almost the exact same spot behind me. I misjudged another bounce and that was it. I swear there wasn’t eight balls hit into the stands the entire practice. No wonder the Giants Suck. Ok I take that back, at least they showed up for BP.
And then he was gone. Cool guy, he always takes time to sign.
Clint Hurdle did the same thing.
Not too shabby.
That made up for not snagging any baseballs today.
Being down that close to the field I was able to get some cool pictures.
Below is Alana from FSN doing her pre game broadcast. Next up is Ryan Spilborghs Tulo and Atkins playing catch Tulowitzki striking “his” pose Two pictures for Willy Taveras. The stolen base King We took a stroll over to see what pitchers were out and what did we see? If you look close you can see almost every pitcher the Rockies have. Grilli and Corpas showing some autograph love Grilli went out of his way to give out autographs. Gotta respect a guy who remembers where he came from. On the mound today for the Rockies Jorge De La Rosa (8-7) And a shot after he releases the ball. De La Rosa struck out six players in seven innings today. One of the few big plays of this game was in the bottom of the second inning Tulowitzki gets an RBI triple. Here’s a picture I took of that exact hit. Iannetta a split second before he nails it for a sweet single Clint Barmes, probably looking for his hat .
If you look close you can see the ball just before it gets to Atkins. Neat shot. Matt Holliday. You can call him Mr Billboard today. Congrats Matt ! If you look just above Matt’s knee you can see the ball . That pitch was a strike.
Billboard # 1
Beautiful day for a ballgame. Always nice to leave a winner. Rockies shutout the Giants at Coors Field 4-0. Todays pitching staff Jorge De La Rosa, Corpas and Fuentes were simply outstanding.
Speaking of pitching.
Rockies Face Lincecum tomorrow and this kid is flippin deadly.
Clint and I, we’re not worried.
See ya there..
